Stephen B. Ferber is CEO & Managing Partner of Golden Gate BPO Solutions, LLC. He is personally responsible for ensuring that each Golden Gate BPO client and operating partner achieves its revenue and profitability goals. He also focuses on driving the company’s strategic direction, oversees and manages all aspects of the company’s business development, operations and works with clients and prospective clients directly in order to identify and fulfill their contact center and business process outsourcing needs. Ferber has almost 20 years of experience in the contact center and business process outsourcing industry, including executive management, legal and general counsel, international expansion and operations, M&A strategy and management, capital sourcing, and business turnaround for private and public companies, start-ups, small to middle market and Fortune 500 companies.
Ferber founded Golden Gate BPO in 2006, in conjunction with Paxys, Inc. and Advanced Contact Solutions, one of the largest outsourced providers of contact center and BPO solutions in Southeast Asia and first Philippine-based company whose stock became publicly traded. Golden Gate BPO Solutions built Paxys’ and Advanced Contact Solutions’ presence in the United States market as its US corporate arm, expanding the conglomerate’s brand, capabilities and overall shareholder value through its business development, client services and consultative and operational guidance. After two (2) years, Golden Gate BPO spun off from its Southeast Asia parent company, became 100% privately-held in the US and began to replicate that same business methodology for select US, LACAR region and emerging market companies. The result has allowed Golden Gate BPO to achieve for its primarily US clients an outsourcing alternative that allows each client to meet their specific pricing/cost needs without having to sacrifice high standards of performance and quality and while being able to enjoy and build a business partnership and relationship that is meaningful, strategic and satisfying.
From May of 2008 through November of 2011, Ferber also served as an executive officer of Interactive Response Technologies, Inc., EVP Strategic Planning and General Counsel, a company that served as Golden Gate BPO’s US-based operating partner from 2006 through June 2013.
Prior to founding Golden Gate BPO Solutions, Ferber was an active partner and Managing Director of Cross Keys Capital, LLC for 3 years, a middle market investment banking and advisory firm, with a focus in the areas of strategic planning, buy and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, financial and operational business improvements and turnarounds and outsourced contact center and BPO services.
Before Cross Keys Capital, Ferber served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Precision Response Corporate (PRC). In that role, Ferber was responsible for all aspects of the company’s legal affairs. In addition, he was responsible for PRC’s strategic planning (including the planning and execution of all mergers and acquisitions), international business development and operations and, as a subsidiary of IAC/InterActiveCorp (IAC) from 2000 through 2004, affiliate business development and operations. During his time with PRC, Ferber established its offshore capabilities in the Philippines and other international locations, completed key acquisitions for the company which expanded the company’s call center/BPO capabilities (and served as a board member and officer of the acquired companies), enhanced the company’s operational and financial performance and was a key participant with respect to PRC’s multiple public stock offerings (raising in excess of $350M US) and other financing initiatives as well as the sale to IAC in 2000 for over $750M US, a Fortune 500 company.
Prior to joining PRC, Mr. Ferber took on the role as interim President and Chief Operating Officer of his family’s furniture manufacturing, importing and distributing business, successfully managing the financial and operating turnaround of the troubled business.
Before that, Mr. Ferber performed tax and consulting services for the Big Five public accounting and consulting firm of Coopers & Lybrand (now known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers). At Coopers and Lybrand, Mr. Ferber’s main area of practice was in the Financial Advisory Services consulting unit, focusing on business turnarounds and bankruptcies, mergers and acquisitions services, tax planning and compliance, and dispute resolution and litigation-type matters. Mr. Ferber also worked in the tax department of the big five public accounting and consulting firm of KPMG Peat Marwick (now KPMG International) while in college.
Mr. Ferber earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, where he was a proud member of the Maryland Terrapins Varsity Tennis Team. He received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law, specializing in corporate, international and tax law. In addition to holding the currently inactive designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Mr. Ferber is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida and is a member of the Florida Bar.
